Mini-Concert 2026 (Junior Section)

Date: 10/05/2026

  • Over the past two weekends, The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC) presented three mini-concerts at the North Point Henrietta Secondary School Centre Hall, the Wong Chuk Hang Centre Mini Hall, and the West Kowloon Centre Recital Hall. This also marked the first concert held at the new Wong Chuk Hang Centre. On 3 May, 9 May, and 10 May, members of the Junior Choral Classes took turns taking the stage, showcasing their learning achievements to parents and other choir members with well-prepared prepared performances, each with its own highlights.

Led by Conductor Lee Oi-yen and Accompanist Yuri Imamura, members from Junior 2J and 2N presented a series of joyful and positive songs with the theme of "Happiness Refuelling Station", such as Perhaps Love and The World Keeps Turning Around. The highlight was the performance of the Moroccan children’s song A Ram Sam Sam, featuring lively, rhythmic lyrics. Parents in attendance interacted with the singers and formed a circle, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere.

Members of Junior 1F, 1K and 1L, under the direction of conductors Lee Oiyen, Patricia Chan and Vanessa Wong, with accompaniment by Tony Lam and Laurina Hong, delivered a gratitude themed performance featuring songs including Hymn for Every Family, Everyone Matters and The Will of God by Alex Tam. To mark Mother’s Day, members also specially performed Parent's Grace to express gratitude to parents. This marked the first concert at the new Wong Chuk Hang Centre. HKCC Chairman Barnabas Fung, attended in person to witness this important milestone and to show his support to our young performers.

The mini concert from Junior 2B, 2D and 2K brought joyous melodies under tutors Lee Oiyen, Ho Tszyan, Tony Lam and Laurina Hong. Highlights included Strings of Plastic Flowers, an original piece composed by Tony Lam. With simple lyrics and a pleasant tune, the work is rich in local Hong Kong charm. Another special piece was Whisper by Greg Gilpin. Through multipart alternation and dynamic shifts, the members created an atmosphere of soft whispers and shared secrets, delivering a vivid, engaging and touching performance.

The mini-concerts were not only a showcase of HKCC members’ hard work, dedication and learning achievements, but also a testament to their growth in musical ability and teamwork.  Members gained valuable stage experience through these performances.
