Date: 17/10/2026

  • Invited by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), The Hong Kong Children’s Choir (HKCC) performed at the HKPAX 2026 Open Prologue held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza on 8 October. Members of Senior D and Concert Choir presented a rich selection of works bridging Eastern and Western traditions against the stunning sunset backdrop of Victoria Harbour, captivating local citizens and global visitors.

Led by Conductor Kenix Tsang and Accompanist Alexander Wong, Senior D delivered three distinct works: Always There, offered poetic encouragement and warmth during life's low moments; My Dream was also presented with heartfelt expression; followed by Nella Fantasia, depicting a vision of peace, freedom, and warmth. Under the leadership of Music Director and Principal Conductor Kathy Fok and Accompanist Corina Lin, the Concert Choir members subsequently performed a series of dynamic, cross-cultural compositions: Dragon Dance of Shang, recounted the mythic tale of a boy named Liang whose song awakened the Celestial Dragon to revive a drought-stricken land. The repertoire also featured Sacred Stepping Stones, incorporating "Konnakol" and scat improvisation to advocate environmental conservation. The Glaze, composed by Cao Guanyu with lively choreography and Finale composed by Chan Kai-Young, which captures the growth, dedication and accomplishments throughout the choral path. Finally, We are the World was conducted by choir member Ivan Poon, spreading messages of unity and global peace.

Towards the end of the performance, under the baton of Prof. Leon Tong, The Hong Kong Children’s Choir united with the St. Stephen's College Preparatory School Choir, St. Paul's Co-educational College Primary School Children's Choir, and the Heep Yunn School and Wah Yan College (Kowloon) Mixed Voice Choir, alongside the audience, in a powerful rendition of Below the Lion Rock. The joyful voices echoed along the Victoria Harbour, fully demonstrating the diversity of Hong Kong's choral art and celebrating Hong Kong's role as a dynamic hub for the performing arts in Asia and beyond.
