He again graced the performance with his presence and showed appreciation towards HKCC's efforts. His participation in the concert generated extensive media coverage.

  • Sam Hui is widely credited with popularising Cantonese pop songs in the 1970, and the rise of Cantonese pop songs coincides with HKCC's growth over the past decades. As part of the celebrations for HKCC's 55th anniversary in 2024, this first-ever choral concert of Sam Hui's iconic songs presented choral arrangemnts of a series of his iconic songs, specially rearranged by Dr Steve Ho, Composer in Residence of HKCC, as a tribute to the everlastingly influential Cantonese pop song master.

  • Two concerts kickstarted with speeches given by HKCC Vice-Chairman Mr Barnabas Fung Wah and Chairman Mr Ronald Yam Tak-fai respectively. Around 1,500 members from Junior to Senior level, Concert Choir and Chamber Youth, together with special guests Tenor Chen Chen, Harmonicist Gordon Lee, Singer Li Jia and Ashley Lin, Baritone Albert Lim and Tenor Alex Tam, and HKCC Board member Prof Sydney Tang, performed some of the most familiar songs of the pop song master, such as Job HunterStudent's Song and Rapid Retreat.

  • During the concerts, interviews with renowned composers Prof Chan Wing-wah, Ng Chuek-yin and Anna Lo and music producer Chiu Tsang-hei were screened, in which they shared about the contributions Mr Sam Hui has made to the Cantonese pop music scene and congratulated HKCC on celebrating its imminent 55th anniversary.

Led by HKCC Music Director and Principal Conductor Ms Kathy Fok, the concert warmly concluded with HKCC members, special guests and all audience singing Sing Along, provoking thunderous applause from the audience and building up anticipation for HKCC's 55th anniversary next year.
