HK Phil Concert “Christmas Fantasia”

Date: 23/12/2021

  • The Hong Kong Children’s Choir was invited by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra to perform in its first live Christmas concert under the epidemic situation. The theme of the concert this year is “Christmas Fantasia”. Conducted by the Chorus Master of the HK Phil, Apollo Wong, HKCC joined hands with the HK Phil to present a series of classic Christmas songs from different countries and celebrate the spirit of Christmas as if travelling around the world together.

Members from Senior B and Concert Choir of HKCC performed the famous work by the Belgium composer César Franck, Panis Angelicus, with the HK Phil Chorus at the beginning of the concert. After that, HKCC members presented the newly arranged work by HKCC Composer in Residence Dr Steve Ho, Christmas Express. It is a medley of ten well-known Christmas songs, hoping to take the audience on a journey to experience the ever-changing musical scenery at Christmas. HKCC appeared on stage again at the end of the concert to sing the last song A Christmas Festival and the encore song Handel’s Messiah: Hallelujah with the HK Phil to wish everyone to have a merry and happy Christmas.
