Gala Concert 2025 - Sing for Joy

  • The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC) presented its annual Gala Concert at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall on October 11 and 12, 2025. Around three thousand members participated in four different shows. The theme of the concert is "Sing for Joy", this year's Gala Concert aims to convey pure happiness and vitality to the audience through music and singing. 

     

    Selected by different classes from a wide range of choral works, a medley of classic children’s songs from past to present in the playful“For Children of the Past, Present and Future”. Dressed as beloved cartoon characters, the members showcased their liveliness and charm. There was also “Flight Song "composed by Kim André Arnesen that encourages the audience to hold onto hope even in difficult times, reminding them that their efforts will eventually be heard and accepted. Ēriks Ešenvalds’ “Northern Lights”, transported audience into the magical world of the aurora through choral effects and the use of tuned glasses. The adapted Cuban folk song “Son de Camaguey" full of enthusiasm, which instantly ignites the atmosphere of the scene. Additionally, “We Love to Sing” incorporates various choral forms: starting with a solo, moving to an ensemble performance, then a two-part chorus, and finally a unison chorus. Through these diverse choral styles, the song conveys the heartfelt message of “we love to sing” to every audience. To give extra dimensions to the performances, members performed with props and costumes, added with dance moves, and featured performances by the Percussion Class and Youth Dance, making the concert hall filled with a warm atmosphere and winning a big round of applause from audience of all ages.
