Reception to Celebrate the 29th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR

To celebrate the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region held a celebratory reception on the morning of 1 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC) was invited to perform at the celebratory reception.
The reception was officiated by Chief Executive John Lee and attended by various representatives of Central Government institutions in Hong Kong, including Zhou Ji, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, as well as leaders from various sectors of the community.
At the official commencement of the reception, the HKCC Concert Choir performed In One Accord, an original piece composed by HKCC's Composer-in-Residence, Dr Steve Ho, who rearranged the song for this special occasion and added a rich musical ensemble featuring flute, bass guitar, and percussion instruments, conveying meaningful wishes through harmonious melodies and vocal blending. HKCC Music Director and Principal Conductor Kathy Fok, who had participated in the Handover Ceremony held at the HMS Tamar naval base in 1997, reunited on stage 29 years later with seven HKCC alums, rendering this performance particularly meaningful. The Hong Kong Police Band, Baritone Albert Lim, Soprano Vivian Yau, alongside the choirs of Belilios Public School and Queen's College, also participated as performing guests.
